U.S. Securities and Change Fee Chairman Gary Gensler stated late final week that he was “proud to serve” the company, which some are taking as an indication of his impending resignation. Gensler has confronted heavy criticism for his crackdown on cryptocurrencies, together with a current lawsuit from 18 states, and is probably going to get replaced by incoming President Donald Trump, who has vowed to oust Gensler.
On Tuesday, the Wall Avenue Journal reported that Trump is assembly with Brian Armstrong, the CEO of cryptocurrency trade Coinbase, to debate potential personnel appointments. That very same day, Trump stated he needed Cantor Fitzgerald CEO Howard Lutnick to function his Commerce Secretary. Lutnick is a vocal crypto fanatic who has been a Wall Avenue banker for years, steady coin large Tether.
