Fall of CZ: Binance founder begins jail sentence

Changpeng Zhao (CZ), the billionaire founding father of Binance, has begun a four-month jail sentence at a low-security federal facility in Lompoc, California. Latham & Watkins, Zhao's protection workforce, confirmed that the previous cryptocurrency boss is now in custody.

In April, Zhao was sentenced after pleading responsible to costs associated to enabling cash laundering by his Binance cryptocurrency trade.

The sentence is lower than the three years initially sought by federal prosecutors. Zhao's protection had requested for 5 months of probation, whereas sentencing tips steered 12 to 18 months in jail.

Sam Bankman-Fried, the founding father of the failed FTX trade, is presently serving a 25-year sentence for his position within the fraud conspiracy that induced the collapse of FTX and its related hedge fund Alameda Analysis.
